The cutesy wording grates, I admit.

But expecting a tech-writer to have some design sense is perfectly
reasonable. Unless you're part of a large team, you often do need to
know a bit of everything. And I'd presume that, for this job, design
skills were part of the requirements.

Moreover,the process of writing a resume is very similar to a
documentation process. As Jane mentions in her contribution to this
thread, employers often do use the appearance of resumes to weed them
out. In this case, I would expect that mediocre or incompetent design
would be the filtering criteria.

I have to admit, however, that the wording would make me think twice
about applying. The writer of the ad might have other bad habits, such
as having pastel plush-toys festooned all over the monitor. :-)
