At the risk of seeming self-serving, I would point you to http://www.mmdeaton.com/whatever.htm for some recommended lists that are
focused on professionals, done by professionals, and are user-centered in
their approach to Web design. There are not "how do I write this code"
sites, but "how do I create a usable design" sites.

One word of warning about the HWG lists: A lot of people there have little
concept of trying to meet the needs of their readers and are obsessed with
