Lest there be any confusion about what I meant by "IT" I was referring to the
entire IT industry, not just IT departments within engineering or other
companies. Product development across the Information Technology industry is
being questioned as to whether it's cost-effective. Customers across the board
are apparently saying that incremental improvements in an existing information
product aren't worth the time and money.
This, of course, has a major impact on technical writers, who generally depend
on a development environment to generate the need for documentation.
