Tracy,

As an indication of learning ability, a BA or BS is fine. Unless you are going into a specific field, the degree is less important than the demonstation that you can learn. Having said that, I will recommend that you look into a degree in Technical Writing, as they do exist, and can demonstrate that you have been exposed to many of the concepts that a writer will struggle with, at least once in thier career.

There is a market opening up in Medical writing, but that often requires some background in sciences, particularly those associated with medicine. It is worth a thought since you have six years to go. The other responses that I have seen posted contain other items to keep in mind when applying for a position. Often, it is the impression you make on the interviewers that lands you an offer.
