PHP stands for Personal Home Page. It began life as a simple way of
constructing web pages, a server-side scripting language, and it's grown
into a robust full-fledged scripting language. (BTW, I think MS-Publisher
files are .pub, but my memory could be flaky on that.)

The files should be straight-up text; Word should open them fine, as should
Wordpad, Notepad or half a dozen other applications.

The biggest question is what are you going to do with them when you open
them?

If you're looking for more information about PHP, head for
http://www.phpbuilder.com/ and read the articles and docs. Good Stuff,
Maynard.

Have fun,
