How are people using XML for single-source documentation?

Mostly, they aren't. Some places are using XML for transmitting information to others, but for documentation, without help from a third-party like Java, it is not that useful. The potential exists, but there are few tools for display, manipulation, and creation.

While IE 5, Netscape 6, and I believe Opera, offer support for XML based files, there isn't the satuaration of the audience that would justify using it.
