Is just me, or is the techwr market abysmal right now?

Hi all,
Can't believe that I've only gotten 3 or 4 calls about
tech writing work since the first of the year. This
after I was cut from 2 Nortel projects in the space of
about 6 weeks. Nortel was a big client for me so that
explains some of it but I'm normally fielding calls
from all over and my phone and email has been dead,
business wise. I can normally afford to be quite
choosy about my projects and clients but if you've
been reading any of my posts lately, it's probably
obvious that I'm not being too picky at the moment. I
won't even go into the details of the interview from
hell I had the other day. <sigh>
Any other freelancers experiencing the same thing or
is this dark cloud only hanging around my neck of the
woods?
Kind words of support and sympathy currently being
accepted.
