Who in the techwr-l community is authoring single
source content in FrameMaker (FM), and using Quadralay
WebWorks (WW) to generate RTFs for compilation into
WinHelp?

By single-source, I mean that in addition to printed
manuals and PDF, you might also be creating other
output (portable/dynamic HTML, XML with XSL/CSS,
JavaHelp) via WW. If you are creating WinHelp from FM
source, maybe you would consider answering some
questions. If appropriate, you might want to reply
off-line.

1. What are the main problems that you've encountered
in with your single-source process and with output?

2. Is the tone and style of your Help content different
from that intended for print? How so?

3. Do you use the same heading tags (e.g.,
Heading1/2/3) for print as you do for Help?

4. Are you creating other standard WinHelp features
such as secondary windows and popups? How are you
handling this in the FM source?

5. How do you handle inline jumps from one Help system
to another in the FM source?

6. In the FM source, are you using the same images for
printed manuals as for online Help? For instance, are
you inserting GIFs or BMPs in the Frame source? How do
you handle .shg images?

I realize the archives contain a lot of hits about
single-sourcing, but I was hoping this posting might
generate responses specific to creating WinHelp from FM
source. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Mike
