I have considered something along the lines of what follows (if
you can imagine small caps/bold for Probe Priming Menu):

I like your idea. But IMHO you still need to include the graphic
of the button. Perhaps put it in the heading, if it's a
reference manual, as in

2. Frambling the whozits [graphic of framble button]

If it's coming up throughout the manual, perhaps you could put
the graphic in the margin, next to where it occurs in the text.
