In defense of Flash, it can be useful under some circumstances. We use it for an animated demo of our software. This enables us to point out features and benefits and add detailed explanations as we walk the viewer through the major parts of the application.

That said, though, we do not assault the casual surfer with anything in Flash. The user has to explicitlry request to view the demo, and it is clearly identified as a Flash file.
