I use FM on Windows and have worked in environments where it was used on
Macs and UNIX as well. FM goes well from platform to platform, though you do
have to be aware of differences between the platforms (think fonts,
graphics, and file naming conventions). However, pick your flavor of UNIX
carefully and be aware that Adobe announced there would be no further
development of FrameMaker on Linux. The FrameMaker 5.5.6 licenses for Linux
have also *all* expired.

Cheers,

I've searched the archives and I have not found exactly what I am looking
for. Does anyone know of a software package for developing documentation
that will run on Linux as well as Windows. I am currently using
FrameMaker
6 on Windows but I am not tied to this for future development. I have
also
tried Star Office 5.2, works on both platforms but does not work for
large
projects. Should I pursue an additional copy of FrameMaker 6 for
> Linux/Unix?

The only options are to get a Unix version, which requires a hardware change, or wait for Adobe to port to Mac OS X, which is also a hardware chanage. You are pretty much out-of-luck.

Sorry,

Scott
