Angie,

Your credentials sound fine. The trick is finding the company that needs
someone with your credentials, and there are plenty. dot.com companies tend
to want to hire people with specific knowledge and experience; but many will
take newbies, if they think they can do the job. Many Fortune 1000 companies
are more willing to train people.

Some companies, not most, give writing and technical tests. Often companies
are willing just to look at your writing samples and resume. Be sure you
have some step-by-step procedures included in your samples. If you don't
have any, make up some, just to show you know how to do them.

We hire writers frequently for project work. In interviewing, we look for
positive energy, an inquisitive mind, good writing samples, some experience,
a methodical mind, comfort with technology, and a person who inspires
confidence that the work will get done.
