Hi, I would like to increase my credibility for technical writing. I have a general interest in databases because of their practical applications. Are there technical writers who have benefited from learning SQL (structured query language, as opposed to SQL Server)? and how have they applied knowledge of SQL in their work?

Is SQL only practical knowledge if I want to work for a database manufacturer or go into database administration? What kinds of opportunities for working with database documentation are available? (UI or non-UI) and what kind of background knowledge would be helpful?

-thanks,
Carol Chung
