I was beating my head against the brick wall too. The real problem is
that *none* of this is even mentioned, let alone clarified, in the
product documentation. Such glaring omissions are what make me
hate a tool -- both head-beating and trying to sort through the
marketing hype to figure out what actually works technically
cut into my doc development time.

Rob Chandler has at least sorted out and detailed the circumstances
that do or do not work for accessing .CHMs. His page should save
others some head-beating until eHelp sees fit to tell us how their
tool really behaves.

The ShowHelp method motioned in the referred page does NOT work from a web
page. It will work on a web page when all the files are local, but once you
put them up on a web site, they don't work. And actually careful reading of
the page will show that it doesn't say it will work.

As pointed out in another list, think about what you are trying to do. Even
if it did work, you are talking about downloading the .CHM every time it is
requested.
