The funny thing is, we are a Microsoft shop, too. At previous jobs, I had
and referenced "The Windows Interface Standard for Software Design." One
day, in a developers office, I saw the book on a shelf. Brushing off the
years of accumulated dust, I gingerly slipped the book from its resting
place and asked, politely and quietly, if I could borrow it. Of course I
could, was the response, we don't use it for anything--thought it's the only
copy. Indeed, I could and did keep it.
