David's point about the difference between
*perceived* size and nominal size is an important
one.

I'd like to point out also that there is often a good
reason for varying perceived size in a "block."

A familiar example is in instruction sheets, where
step numbers are often considerably enlarged. This
makes the instructions easy to find and follow in a
variety of environmental conditions.
