Matt,

I agree with Doug.

Affect, effect:

1. Affect is a verb meaning to change or influence.
(Inflation affects the buying power of the dollar.)

2. Effect is a verb meaning to bring into existence, to
produce as a result. (Every cause produces more than one effect.)

3. Effect is also a noun meaning result or outcome. (The
report will have the desired effect.)

Cassandra

Matt Floyd wonders which is correct:

<<Canceling an item in the box will effect
the block utilization
percentage.>>

Only if you mean that cancelling somehow
creates (effects) that percentage.
(One useful mnemonic: "e" in effects and "e"
in create.)

<<Canceling an item in the box will affect
block utilization percentage.>>

Only if you mean that cancelling changes
(affects) that percentage. (One
useful mnemonic: "a" in affects and "a" in
changes).
