I don't think you're being difficult. I think we're having a
discussion, one that I am hopeful will lead to better understanding of
the issues on my part. Others might find it a useful discussion, too,
but I won't speak for them. (I also wonder how long AP will let this go
assuming we're "obsessing about fonts." <g>)
First, I don't use FONT tags. Don't use deprecated tags at all.
Currently using XHTML 1.0 with CSS2 to the extent that browsers support
such.
Secondly, I'm not using any weird settings. I do specify a font of
preference and a font family (but I'm crusading for either). I also set
colors and leading. However, everything is checked with colors, fonts,
and styles taken out of the mix to ensure that there are no readability
issues. Why I even turn off graphics to see how the page renders that
way. (This is a good way to catch forgetting that "alt" attribute you
want to include with EVERY graphic. Also shows you when your page has
zero content for someone who has chosen not to download your sterling
graphics. <g>)
I am assuming that those who don't want my fonts/styles/colors don't
want anybody's fonts/styles/colors and have disabled them in their
browser in favor of their own choices. But I assume they do that once
and leave it done, so they never know how wonderfully I've formatted
the page. <g>
That's why I'm wondering why it's a big deal to not specify fonts. Now,
am I missing something?
