Or maybe <g> it's time for the US to join the rest of the world (most of it)
in using metric measurements...? Though perhaps not with the enthusiastic
rigour of the UK in the European Community: today a greengrocer is being
prosecuted for selling bananas by the pound instead of the kilo. Even though
I think that a global standard system of measurements is inarguably a Good
Thing, no one could possibly argue that lives depend on bananas being sold
by the centimetre instead of the inch (er, I mean by grammes not ounces...)
