Thank you to those who provided information. But I think there has been a
misunderstanding.

I am not looking for the compiler, which I already have. I am looking for
the Win95 equivalent of the Windows Help Authoring Guide (not kit), which is
a book. I downloaded WHAG.ZIP which contains the .DOC files to the Windows
Help Authoring Guide (win 3.1 version). I understand it was written by
Microsoft, though it was never published. I am looking for a win95 version
of it for detailed info but maybe it simply does't exist.

Thanks anyway.

Valerie

I believe the file you want is hcw.hlp--it should be in the same directory
as hcw.exe (Microsoft's Help Compiler Workshop).

If you own any RoboHelp product that creates 4.x (95) Winhelp, you probably
have several copies of the compiler. In fact, any tool that creates 4.x
Winhelp has to include the Microsoft compiler--even if the vendor likes to
pretend they invented the format!--so you may already have the help file,
too.

Hope this helps...
