Thanks Katie, Lisa, John G., Melissa, Rosemarie, Geoff, Susan, Ben, and
Arlen for your great advice & excellent book, article and web site
recommendations. I've spent the last day or so reviewing these and have a
much better idea of what I'd like to do.

For those of you interested in the direction I'm heading, take a look at
the following web sites.
https://www.sigma-aldrich.com/saws.nsf/msdshelp?OpenForm
http://products.mmm.com/US/safety/MSDS/msdsSearch.jhtml
http://www.jtbaker.com/cgi-bin/pasi.pl

We are dealing with the same type of documents, although from thousands of
vendors, but these seem to be good, easy to use search engines. Sometimes
the obvious is right under my nose--we use these sites every single day!
Duh!

Once we get our demo site up, I'll post the URL so you can look at that--I
suspect this is of interest to those of us in document management,
regardless of whether it's internal or external.

Ruth
