Yeah, well. You take what you can get.

You make a good point about gratification. Still, if I was inclined
to bet, I'd put my money on Quake players to do something useful
long before your average couch potatoes did. Game players may be
anti-social psychopaths, but at least they're *active* anti-social
psychopaths. And some of them go on to show reasonable powers of
concentration, writing new code or debugging with an attention to
detail that amazes me.
