An appendix is something appended or added on at the end. So, an
appendix can be something that was inserted too late to go into a
regular chapter, or as after thought. It could also be useful
information that is not central to what's in the chapters, such as
contact information or technical specs. Putting information in an
appendix might have the side benefit of making it easier to find.
