At the risk of mutating this thread's topic further, it's funny you mention
that: Whenever I get asked "So what's a technical writer do, exactly?" I
often use as an example recipes and cookbooks as a form of user instruction.


Y'know, when you think about it, Martha Stewart is a technical communicator
in her own right.
