My 2 cents

I've been on both sides of the tele-commuting issue. As a writer and
manager, working at home has been a reward for good work, not an everyday
company practice. I have had huge success with offsite working. However, I
have known at least one person who abused the situation (moreso than they
would at the office). That situation was corrected by putting some controls
in place. The writer had to plan what they were working on at home, then
provide for a draft and status meeting when they returned. After a few
'check-ups', everything was back on track.
