I have a related question about modular Help systems:
Has anyone created a help system that allows third party plug-ins to your
help without recompiling the main help?
I have a product in which all editors, datatypes, and objects are plug-ins.
Third parties can create and sell their own plug-ins to the main product.
Different sets of editors and objects are sold (chinese menu style... one
from column A, etc.) I had this nice idea of building a help system that
could scan a plug-in help directory for help modules and build menus on the
fly. HTML Help 1.0 documentation mentioned this would be a future feature.
Well, I have never heard of it again but I also haven't pushed it too hard
because I have already released the product twice with non-modular help.
I would be happy to hear from anyone who has tried similar projects or knows
where I can find out about modular on the fly help systems.
