yes, it is. In Digest, they are grouped so you DO have all previous
context. However, with individual, they come in scattered, sometimes
out of order, and in my case, mixed in with 3 other high volume lists
and personal emails (yes, I know about filtering). Without the
context of the message that is being replied to, I won't know what
the message is refering to.

I try to keep it relevant. Sometimes I condense the line breaks so
the maximum number of words fit on a line, sometimes I copy pieces
out oif the message and place them in a different place to be
answered more clearly. However, to remove context and to receive a
message that in the body says without the question.

I agree that the sig stuff and footer stuff should be trimmed, but
keeping some or all of the previous message (depending on how complex
the message is) is necessary. Besides, the list software won't allow
more than 20 or 30 line chunks as it is.
