Oddly enough, I had almost the opposite situation a few months ago with Adobe. I needed to reinstall Acrobat 4.05 on my computer after a massive crash for a rush project (isn't it always?), on a Sunday evening. The serial number I had on the disk wasn't working properly. I called the Adobe sales help number I found on the Web site, and explained the problem, even though I expected to be told that I'd have to call a different number on Monday morning. The person on the phone asked for my name and the serial number I was trying to input, then told me the additional characters I had to add in to make the screen accept it as valid.

The whole thing took maybe five minutes and averted a major hassle.

Friends,

Here is an off-topic story about Adobe.

I needed to upgrade my five year old FrameMaker to 6.0 in a hurry to
do a side contract. I called Adobe because I live in San Jose.
<snip sad story>
