We use SI units, and have for at least 20 years. I see some writers using
common abbreviations like amp, instead of the symbol A, and many don't
realize there is an internationally agreed upon system of units.

Don't change your use of the standard symbols just because some writers
haven't bothered to learn there are standard symbols.
