Sometimes I apply for jobs where I don't have all of the skills that are
alleged to be required because whoever set up the criteria isn't really serious
about them. I have found many hiring managers say that experience with, even
expertise in, XYZ software (listed as required) was not as important as the
confidence to know you could get the job done and learn on the fly what you
needed to of tools.

It is hard to know sometimes what the real requirements of a position are until
you talk with the hiring manager.
