Subject: Consolidated index

All,
I've been asked to look into using a consolidated index for our
documentation.
<snip>
This would help users find information throughout the documentation rather
than searching every manual's index.
<rest snipped>

I only combine indexes when creating PDFs. In this way you can jump quickly
from one PDF document (Admin) to another (i.e. User). Can you use this
option? Personally I would find it confusing to have an index for all
documents in a series in one document. Although I have seen the technique
used in academic documents with two or more volumes in a series. The first
or master book/doc has the TOC for all of the books in the series and then
refers readers to the relevant volume.

TOC

Volume 1

.
.
.

Volume 2

.
.
.

Volume 3
.
.
.

That's all.
