TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
If you're moving to Frame, why are you dinking around with an underpowered
third-party help authoring tool (HAT)? Frame is designed expressly to be
slick and automated. With some small amount of work, you can make help files
totally automatically, using either Quadralay or the much less expensive
MIF2GO. Or you can split the difference and get a truly standalone help
authoring tool that will flawlessly import an RTF from Frame.
If you feel the need to dink and tweak the RTF out of Frame, then perhaps
you need that HAT, but if you plan the documents correctly and use Frame's
full feature set, you can make help files literally at the push of a button.
No more dinking.
