Howdy,
My situation is similar to yours regarding the major contract. I am working
on contract, on-site and at home, at a large corporation and they require a
bunch of insurance, but not the E&O. However, I am going to pick it up
because this corp would not sign my contract which stated that I was not
responsible for the content of the docs. Their contract, which is a
"standard" Consultant contract makes me responsible for any and all
liability. I convinced them to add one line that says that I am not
responsible for content but I feel the need to protect myself. I cannot rely
on the SMEs or other reviewers.

I bought my insurance through an independent agency that sold me Hartford
products. The E&O that I will get is called Professional insurance. The
Hartford number that I have is 800-448-5462.

I know we've recently discussed similar issues on the list, but never to the
point of a recommended provider. I'm a solo techwriter working as a
contractor from my home office. Are there others in my situation who have
obtained significant insurance policies, including Liability, E&O, Workman's
comp? (I know, it's crazy, I don't need it, but it's required by a major
contract that I do need)

I know what all of these coverages mean, my question is, where do you go to
get a good rate specific to the needs of a techwriter? Do any of you know
of links, phone numbers, email address of good insurance companies for solo
techwriters?

Thanks,
