Task analysis is breaking down a discrete unit of work into the following:

+ Objective
+ Steps
+ Knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) required to perform those steps

EXAMPLE:

Task: Change oil in a car

Objective: Car's oil system is filled with the proper weight of oil to the
proper level as measured with the oil dipstick. The oil drain plug and
correct oil filter are in place and properly tightened.

Step #4 Remove oil drain plug.
Required KSAs: Under-vehicle safety precautions. Location of oil drain
plug. Selection and use of wrench. Path forward if oil drain plug is
stuck.
