I don't think most writers despise Word itself. We just hate certain Word
glitches - mainly because, as Geoff mentioned, the glitches sometimes cause
major stress. When the entire set of files in your Master doc. becomes
corrupted the day before the project is due, it does cause both stress and
anger at the tool. Overall, Word is (IMO) a valuable tool for certain
purposes, that has known flaws. Most can be worked around. Frame has it's
oddities too, but once you're used to them, they seem fairly minor.
That said, folks on the list just enjoy continuing the "tool crusades."
