I agree that Austin is hot. In defense, though, I think the
traffic sucks worse in some areas of California, and
housing in Silicon Valley is much higher than Austin. I live here,
too, and I visit frequently in California. I recently heard a
story on NPR about a bedroom community of San Francisco
that is affordable. The report said that everyone buys over
the weekend, and then they get in the workday traffic and
it takes 4 hours to get to S.F., normally a 1/2 hour drive.
I don't think Austin has anything to compete with that.

I have lived in larger cities, and people who complain about
the traffic in Austin don't know what it's like to live in Houston,
Los Angeles, or areas of Northern California.
