I am working for a start-up, dot com company, and we are seriously
considering implementing single-sourcing throughout the company. I have been
talking up the idea to senior managers, and everyone is excited about the
possibilities the approach offers and the real benefits we information
developers bring to the company under such an approach. Another obvious
advantage is that we could leverage the fact that our company is fairly
young to establish the system and processes as part of our culture without
requiring extensive re-work.
If anyone has implemented single-sourcing in a similar environment, I would
greatly appreciate it if you would be willing to speak with me about the
pros and cons of single-sourcing and about how you implemented the process
in your company. Please forward contact information and a good time for me
to get in touch.
Otherwise, I would be interested in receiving any summaries of the processes
that people have used to implement single-sourcing and of how satisfied
managers and staff are with the resulting system. Also, I am curious as to
what tools people recommend or do not recommend, which vendors are helpful
and which are not. This would be a major commitment for us, so I want to
consider carefully how best to proceed.
Please feel free to contact me directly. If there is interest, I will
summarize for the list.
TIA!
