"Windows" may be a registered trademark, but "window" (as in, "the document
window" or "the application window" or "the browser window") isn't. I stick
with my original premise. If you doubt me, take a look at most of the
published books out there. Standard usage is "window" to mean the thing that
encompasses the application or document (to use that term loosely) and
"dialog box" for everything else, such as "Save As..."
