Philip and (his dog) Alex (and their company/organization, ArsDigita) also
offer a free web application programming boot camp. They have free
semi-regular
seminars based at MIT that give an overview of web communities and tools for
those communities.

I attended a weekend seminar in January, prior to throwing in the towel at
my last permanent position. It gave me some perspective (and clout) in
writing a proposal for improving that company's website. Then I walked (and
their website is as static as ever).

I think Philip's seminar, and my subsequent (and unrelated) enrolment in
Java programming, have been key to landing the dot com tech writing
contracts I'm working on now. I'm certainly happier!

And that's about as glowing a recommendation as anyone can get, for free!

Jane
