There are always more TW than editor jobs, mainly because many 
companies use peer-editing or self-editing (not recomended). I've 
seen the salaries vary from editors getting more than writers, and 
vice versa. My experience(when I was hiring contract writers and 
editors, is that we were willing to pay more for an editor, 
especially at end-of-project.

As far as local jobs, try the STC bay job listings. Also check the 
STC home page (www.stc.org, it includes links to other bay are job 
listings. You don't have to be a member to use it, but I would 
strongly recommend joining. :
