Mr Smith asks:
How do writers typically differentiate training documentation from user
documentation....
Tony Markatos responds:
Such was the speaker's topic for our most recent STC meeting (Northeast Ohio
Chapter). The speaker's answer: End-users read what Trainers create to
gain knowledge [that stays with them]; end-users read the documenation that
Technical Writers (outside of training) create to do a task once.
Obviously our speaker was a trainer. I disagreed with his assessment, but
was the ONLY one - in a room full of Technical Writers - who did. I would
be very curious as to what others on this listserv feel.
